I am trying to copy Outlook 2010 and everything within it from a laptop to a desktop both win7 64bit, I thought in the past I had jselected all the outlook tickboxes and it just copied from one machine to the other all messages, settings but on this job its not doing that !
Am I missing something obvious here ?
I have version 5 and version 4 of Autobackup if that makes any difference but have just been using 5 on this job

In which scenario are you : backup from the old machine then restore to the new one or direct transfer from the old hard drive attached to the new machine ?

Hi its a customer who wants his emails on 2 machines so I backed up on laptop and restored from the backup onto his desktop, it was version 5 I used and it was only the outlook part I used nothing else was ticked
I did notice it took quite a while to complete so the data must have been backed up
do the profile names have to match exactly as one is "clockwork1" and other is "clockwork2" ?

I guess there is already a messaging profile set on the target machine (Outlook has already been started and this is not good for the process)
To make this working, you have to remove it in a first place. Here is how to proceed on the target computer :
- Run regedit
- Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem"
- Backup the is key : right-click the key, select Export and save the file wherever you want, just in case.
- Delete the "Profiles" registry sub-key
After that, try to restore Outlook stuff again.

Ok will give that a go, I am not able to get back to him until tomorrow.
For future reference what is the best way to go when doing this process ?

Do it like you did but in a first place, Outlook should never have been started. If it has been, then remove the messaging profile and the restore /transfer process should be fine.
