[SOLVED] Error starting AutoBackup 5 Pro

Hello,

I'm getting the error in the linked image below when running AutoBackup 5 Pro on a newly reinstalled Win 7 machine...

http://drive.google.com/uc?export=view& … 1B0OGdLbDg

Any ideas?

Thanks,

David

I have never seen this before. Is V6 acting the same way?
By the way, V5 development is totally discontinued as it has been replaced with V6.
No more fix for it will be made.

Re: [SOLVED] Error starting AutoBackup 5 Pro

I was trying V5 because I couldn't get V6 to download. The backup was made using V5.

I first tried to do a restore from a network drive and got the same error but it referenced DR2 instead of DR1. The restore had been running for quite a few minutes before the error appeared. So I copied the backup files to a USB drive and then tried to restore from there instead. Now the error appears as soon as I try to run V5 i.e. before the UI appears.

I used your Dropbox link to get V6 and so far it's running the restore...fingers crossed!

I hope that will be fine. I have never seen an issue like this before. If it still happens with V6, I will have to google for this

Re: [SOLVED] Error starting AutoBackup 5 Pro

About the "no drive" issue. I have google a bit about that and this is related to removable devices like card readers. Installing or updating the card reader driver should fix the problem.

Re: [SOLVED] Error starting AutoBackup 5 Pro

I moved the drive letters for the DVD and reader from DEFGH to UVWXY and I think that has stopped the error.

Another problem now is when then restore gets to the AdditionalFolders it gives a copy error. I looked at the backup archive and the path to the additional folders is \AdditionalFolders\Data\F - the additional folders were all in the root of C, so is the F at the end of the path correct?

Cheers.

I guess the backup was taken from a pulled hard drive right?
If so, the drive would have the F letter. In this case, when you restore the files without putting them in another location, the program will try to put them on the F drive.

Ah yes! Does changing that F to a C make the restore work? Don't want to just try it without checking with you.

Yes that should do the trick
