Aloha!
Using Fab's AutoBackup 6.4.1.27157 Pro to copy data from old machine to new machine. First backed up data to external hard drive, then did a restore from that external hard drive to the new machine. Both machines are Win 7 64-bit.
Everything went fine except for four .pst files. The log shows

I checked, and these files are in the backup created by Fab's Autobackup. Directory path is:
...(path to external drive)\archive\OutlookPST\MyDocuments
Any idea why the restore of these files might have failed? I can run the restore again if you need more info.

It's looking like the drive I used for data transfer is dying fast. Probably an issue with the drive.
Sorry for the false alarm.

Let's reopen this one.... tried a different hard drive for the transfer. Same results - no errors copying the files to the hard drive, but I do get errors when copying the files from the external hard drive to the (new) system. Again, it's only PST files that are giving me the problem.
I can manually copy these 4 files, but if you'd like to pursue why I'm getting the errors please let me know quickly as I have to return the machine to my customer.

What happens if you restore the files to a test machine instead of this one?
It may have nothing to do with the drive you are using but with this system. Perhaps some usb controller or ram issue?

Forget about what I have just written. I have looked at the target file's path and there is a real problem here : there is a double backslash in it which can cause those copy errors. I am a bit surprised that no one else reported such problem because the Outlook part has not been changed for a while.
I guess "Outlook files" words are missing in "C:\Users\Sue\Documents\\archive2.pst"
I will fix that asap

Good catch! I missed that (and I usually read error messages for things like this)
Do you need the full path from the original location?
Offline
Yes, that can be helpful

Original path is:
C:\Users\<user name>\Documents
This is a Windows 7 64-bit system. Let me know if you need anything else.

Ok, so, no sub folder for outlook files. Interesting. Thanks!

FWIW....
Scanned entire C: drive for *.pst files just to see if perhaps there were duplicates in some other directory. Only other .pst file found was an outlook.pst in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook. This file was successfully transferred to the new machine.

Are you able to reproduce this problem? I need to get my customer's computer back to them.
Thanx

You can send it back to your customer. I can reproduce it. Fortunately, outlook files in my documents are almost always in sub folders, so, there is no problem with such files in most cases. A fixed version will take a bit because I am making changes in the full code to track every action (clicks, procedures, functions, ...) for debugging purposes. I have to finish that in a first place before fixing the issue you encountered.
