[SOLVED] I spent hours backing up 800gb and now I need help!

Hi, I just purchased fabs 7 pro and backed up 800gigs with four users, I went to recover and all the folders are there but no config file so fabs does nothing! Is there a way to make one or fix so I can recover??

Re: [SOLVED] I spent hours backing up 800gb and now I need help!

I have just tested it with a 50 gigs and 2 users backup and it was fine.
Anyway, here is a way to create the file if it is really not there.

In this example case, this a 2 users backup (the profiles names are "FAB" and "TEST" and there are public items too) that has been stored to "E:\Test\2018-04-07\COMPUTERNAME"
Create a text file named "backup.conf" at this folder's root (where there are folders with the users names) and put the following information in it (adapt it with your backup information):

[FAB]
ArchivePath=FAB\archive

[TEST]
ArchivePath=TEST\archive

[PUBLIC]
ArchivePath=PUBLIC\archive

Save it with UTF-8 encoding (using the dropdown menu in the notepad's save as dialog).
Just make sure that your file's full name is "backup.conf" and not "backup.conf.txt" if the known file extensions are hidden in your Windows Explorer
backup.conf.png

You should not have to use V6 anymore. Are you sure there is no configuration file with your backups? Just look at the screenshot on my previous post

yup, I just went back and looked again, I went all through each user folder, weird. I have used ver 7 pro before so I know what the config looks like. FYI I ran fabs on a acronis tib image in a 1 tb hard drive mounted in a win 10 box, the backup went to a second 1tb in it. The fabs 7 pro version was the one I purchased on Friday 16 March, 2018

I was sure you were using the very last version. There has been changes regarding this configuration file since first version release.
Do you still have this acronis backup around to test with yesterday's release?

To be sure it works like it is supposed to, you should select some low weight items (like the desktop's wallpaper for example) for user items and installed software list for public items. This way, it will do the job very fast and you will see if a config file is created or not.
