Hi.
I purchased FAB 7 and the users documents are not being restored.
Backup old failing HD.
Installed new SSD.
Fresh install 10 with updates.
Running as Administrator.
Can see the archive file with documents etc on external drive.
Selecting only documents and wallpaper (too many photos etc).
Only wallpaper is restored. All other items say 'no file to copy'.
Please help.

Are you restoring to an account created within the app? If so, just in case, I would reboot the computer and try again. The new user registry hive may still be locked and the program cannot access it. Let me know if that does the trick. If not, perform the same job in debug mode. This will send me some information about that system and I will let you know what happens. To enable the debug mode, right click the program's title bar and select "debug mode". Then perform the job like you did and finally, fill the debug feedback form that will appear when you will close the app.

No, trying to restore to current account. Rebooted twice. Will attempt to create account from app and test.
OK, creating new account from app works fine. Used to work in V6 ok though?

I have looked at the debug files and the app was thinking that the "My documents" path was "E:\Hardy\OWNER\archive\Documents"
That's weird but fortunately, it looks like it happens very rarely. In fact, this is the first time someone reports such issue.
I do not think this has anything to do with V6 vs V7. I will try to make some tests using your debug files as clues. Hopefully I will be able to reproduce this and sort it out definitely.

Maybe multiple upgrades over the years with some symlinks to my docs?

Perhaps, I don't know

I am having the same issue. I have tried restoring user to user and user to add local account and both only copy over the .ost file. Everything else says "no file to copy" but I can see all of the files in the backup. I have rebooted a couple of times and tried and the results are the same.
The backup profile is from Windows 7 and I am restoring it to Windows 10.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it says that there is no file to copy, it means that the files are already at their destination...
Could you please start over and run this restore job in debug mode ? This will send me some information about that system and I will let you know what happens. To enable the debug mode, right click the program's title bar and select "debug mode". Then perform the job like you did and finally, fill the debug feedback form that will appear when you will close the app.

I got your debug feedback.
Now, I will create a similar backup configuration (running Windows 7) and restore it to a Windows 10 build in the same conditions to see what happens and how I can fix this.

I have found out what's wrong and made a test version with the fix.
I have sent a download link to a test version vi email (maybe this is the next official one if it works for you).
First part of the fix, download it and install it, this will replace the one you already have.
The fix require some other manual steps anyway because there are overridden path written in your configuration file:
- Fab's AutoBackup must be closed.
- Click Windows start button and type "C:\ProgramData\Fab's AutoBackup 7\AutoBackup.ini" (the quotes are not needed) and hit enter
- Delete any section like this:
[SOME_USER_NAME]
XOverridePath=Some_Path_In_MyBackup
YOverridePath=Some_Other_Path_In_My_Backup
- Click File, then Save and close the file.
The Outlook profiles and account settings might not restore because of some files already restored. To prevent this:
- open a Windows explorer, type "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook" in the file address bar
- Remove any PST/OST (Outlook Data File) file in this folder
After that, run Fab's AutoBackup 7 and restore your files.
Everything should be fine with this one.
Please report any result here. Everyone has to know if this issue is fixed or not.

Thank you. I will give this a try in just a few and let you know the results.

According to your second debug feedback, it looks like the fix worked.
I think you can disable the debug mode now

Yes, the fix worked. I also did another from scratch and that worked perfectly. I really appreciate the quick help. Your support is amazing!!

Cool! That's what I thought but I wanted your confirmation before releasing anything publicly.

As son as an issue is discovered, a race against time starts: if you try to restore files, it means that you need them now so I had to be quick!
