Some Odd behaviour

Hi there!

First, may I say how happy I am to be a FABS customer - its an important part of my toolkit!

Here is the situation that I invite you to comment on - this is not so much an issue with the product but if you can help me understand what happened I would appreciate it.

Customers desktop was killed during a power outage. Hard disk was recovered so I attempted to transfer the user profile to a new machine. Note: Transfer, not backup/restore

When the transfer completed I checked a few customer files (130 GB in total, but opening 10-15 randomly ) and while the directory entries were there , all files ( word documents, spreadsheets, pictures etc) had no content.

I then checked the hard disk and it does have some errors (unreallocated sectors). I see the user profile is completely locked down with no read permission. I forced a changed of ownership to "Everyone" and then checked the source files  and could open them properly

I re-executed  the transfer and this completed successfully.

So I wonder what the explanation for this might be?

Best Regards

Re: Some Odd behaviour

I guess errors on hard drive have prevented Fab's AutoBackup from setting needed permissions. From that, it makes sense that it could not get the files properly.
