I'd love to be able to type my \\server\foldershare path into the "backup location" field when beginning to do a backup. As of now, when I try, it will begin to show me the available shares on a server in the dropdown as I am typing and then it will freeze and lock up. The program will then run very terribly from that point forward until I close it, map the drive in windows, then reopen, then browse using the oldschool file browser dialog window in the application.

That's totally abnormal. It is not supposed to look up if network path is valid until path has at least 3 backslashes to prevent such freezes.
I'll test this asap and release a fix if there's actually something wrong.
Sorry for this inconvenience.

I have just tested against my nas. There's not slow down issue here. Is your share password protected ? If so, it may be better to first connect it though windows explorer providing required credentials. Then you should be able to type path smoothly.
