Merging multiple bookmarks from multiple computers

One of my coworkers is getting a desktop computer, and has two laptops.  With that, she wants the data files (pictures, documents, etc) from both computers put on the new desktop, but before I start transferring the second laptop's data over, I have a question about the bookmarks.  If the bookmarks from the second laptop are transferred to the desktop, does it clear out the already existing bookmarks, or does it simply append them?  I want to know if I have to save out the bookmarks, and import them manually.

While I'm at it, are there likely to be any specific complications (Outlook is not at issue in this situation), beyond possible wiping out the already existing bookmarks?

Thanks for the response.

Re: Merging multiple bookmarks from multiple computers

Hello,
unless the brwoser is Internet Explorer, you'll need to export and reimport bookmarks from the browser : Fab's does not edit bookmarks, it gets the file that contains them and copy it. File name is always the same, so if you have already copied them from first laptop, the one from second laptop will overwrite the first file.

About second question (that's a good thing that Outlook is not involved here!), here is a list of the items that could conflict :
- Desktop wallpaper : the last restored will be applied.
- Internet explorer's start page and settings : only the last restored will be applied
- Firefox profile (beware, you could get several profiles named "default" and that would be quite difficult to know which was from which machine.
- SeaMonkey profile : same thing as Firefox
- Waterfox profile : same thing as Firefox
- Comodo Ice Dragon : same thing as Firefox
- Pale Moon : same thing as Firefox
- Chrome Bookmarks : one the last ones restored will be kept
- Chromium Edge bookmarks : same thing as Chrome
- Chromium bookmarks : same thing as Chrome
- Opera : only last restored profile will be kept
- Vivaldi : only last restored profile will be kept
- Brave : only last restored profile will be kept
- AVG Secure browser : only last restored profile will be kept
- Comodo Dragon : only last restored profile will be kept
- Avast Secure browser : only last restored profile will be kept
- Epic Privacy Browser : only last restored profile will be kept
- 360 Browser : only last restored profile will be kept
- Maxthon : only last restored profile will be kept
- Avant Browser : only last restored profile will be kept
- Mozilla Thunderbird : only last restored profile will be kept
- IncrediMail : default identity may be overwritten
- PostBox : only last restored profile will be kept
- Windows Live mail : only last restored profile will be kept
- Opera Mail : only last restored profile will be kept
- Word templates : can be merged except for files with same names
- Word Startup folder : can be merged except for files with same names
- Word custom dictionaries : can be merged except for files with same names
- Word automatic corrections : can be merged except for files with same names
- SafeInCloud password manager : never tested. I would bet on something like last one wins.
- Screen saver settings : last restored stays
- Sticky notes : last restored stays
- Apple devices backups : never tested but they don't merge for sure
- Picasa albums : not tested but they don't merge
- Picasa database : last restored wins
- Network drives : if there's no drive letter conflict, it's OK to merge
- Network places : no problem
- Blackberry Desktop settings : they don't merge
- BlackBerry backups : there should not be any problem
- Google Earth markplaces : last restored wins
- Java security exceptions : last restored wins
- FileZilla CLient settings : last restored wins
- FileZilla Server Settings : last restored wins
- Ultimaker Cura settings : last restored wins
- Ubiquiti UniFi database : last restored wins
- Notepad++ settings : last restored wins
- AnyDesk user settings : last restored wins
- User's dial up and VPN settings : last restored wins
- User's fonts : can be merged
- MS Office activation files : forget it, that will not work from a machine to another.
- Machine's dial Up and VPN settings : last restored wins
- AnyDesk machine settings : last restored wins

No problem with other items.

Re: Merging multiple bookmarks from multiple computers

Thank you for the quick response.  This will be good information for anything I back up.

Also, just because, thank you for such a useful program.
