It seems like the past few months or so that my backups of customer drives are taking forever to backup either Chrome or Firefox files. I had one that took several hours to do 2GB of data..It takes just as long to restore back as well.
My process is pulling customer drive, dropping it into a USB dock and then using FAB's to back the files up to a mapped drive on my NAS.
Any help would be appreciated.

Many factors can be involved here :
- Number 1 rule : make sure you're running Fab's 7.5.0.3327. If you're running an old version, it's possible that it has not some optimizations.
- The "exclude local browser cache" option needs to be ticked or thousands of small useless files will be copied.
- Source drive's health : failing drives with thousands of small kb files on it ill take longer to process than healthy ones with only big files. That's not only a Fab's thing but a rule that applies with any file copying program, even Windows Explorer
- USB speed : it's always better to use USB3
- Network speed : it's always faster using gigabit link than wifi for example.
- Running anti-malware on computer. It's safer to let it run and scan everything on the fly but if it's really resource hungry, then that will heavily slow down copy process.
- Available RAM on computer : if system is already swapping because of the lack of ram, this will slow down the copy process
- Running anti malware on the NAS if there's one on it.
Tip: nowadays, backing up full Chrome profile is not as useful as it was in the past since preferences are now encrypted and encryption key is tied to user's unique SID and who knows what else. This makes it impossible to copy/move from a profile to another as Chrome will reset profile upon startup. That only works if you are dealing with an Active Directory domain member computer. If not, newest versions will only focus on Chrome's bookmarks and let the rest, speeding up the process in the same move.
