Use Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro from Hiren's Boot CD PE

When it comes to grab data from a computer's drive that does not boot anymore, it is useful to have a rescue boot media.

Hiren's Boot CD PE is one built from Windows 11 and it contains lots of tools for technicians. It is distributed as a downloadable ISO file and can be burnt straight to a DVD.
In this tutorial, we will not explain how to burn the ISO file to a DVD but build a bootable USB boot media (preferably a portable SSD/HDD) instead. This will allow you to put your licensed Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro on it. Note: if you have data on your USB drive, then copy your files in a safe place since it will be formated in the process !

Here's how to proceed :
- Download Hiren's boot CD PE ISO file (source: https://www.hirensbootcd.org)
- Download the latest Portable Rufus version from this page: https://rufus.ie/en
- Plug a portable SSD/HDD (or a USB stick) to your computer.
- Run Rufus
- If you are using a USB SSD or HDD, click the "Show advanced drive properties" and check the "List USB hard drives" box.
- Select the target device in the "Device" menu
Rufus-list-hard-drives
- Click the "Select button" and select the Hiren's Boot CD PE ISO you have downloaded.
- If you are going to make backups on this drive, select NTFS as file system so it will be able to store files larger than 4GB (which is the biggest file size for FAT32 and this is selected by default).
Rufus Window should look like this before you click the "Start" button:
Rufus-config
- Click "Start" button.
- At the end of the process, just copy your Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro folder at the root of your USB drive.

Now, you have a Windows 11 based USB boot media with Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro on it. Note that there will not be any Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro shortcut on the desktop, so you will need to use Windows Explorer and run it from the USB drive.
